Westmorland is a luxury dwelling, designed and project managed by Snook. The design, the intersection of two separate forms, and the spaces this creates, allows for some interesting architectural ideas such as the seemingly impossible cantilevering of the brick first floor mass over the heavily glazed rear corner. However, this architectural adventurousness is not at the expense of a comfortable residence.
The warm concrete mass, with its full height windows and central log fire offer a meeting of the industrial and the cosy. The linear brick used accentuates the horizontal nature of the elevation and is a motif used throughout, examples seen in the slot window and timber cladding on the front elevation.
